"BORN OF GOD" DEVOTIONAL BOOK

17.  WHAT MUST I DO TO BECOME A CHILD OF GOD?

John 3:15-16, "That whosoever  believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

John 5:24, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."

John 11:25, "Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life:  he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:"

John 12:46, I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me shall not abide in darkness."

John 20:31, "But these things are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name."

Acts 16:30-31, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?  And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved."

Romans 10:9, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

I John 5:1a, "Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God:"

Proverbs 3:5, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."

Conclusion:  We most assuredly can be saved.  We can become children of God.  We can possess everlasting life.  All we must do, according to the Word of God, is believe in Jesus Christ.  This does not mean to just believe about Jesus, or merely believe Jesus was a historical figure; even the devils believe.  "Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well;  the devils also believe, and tremble  (James 2:19)."

To become a child of God, we must believe to the point of trust!  To truly believe is to accept Jesus as Savior of our eternal soul, repent of our sins and submit ourselves to him forever.  We can, by faith, make the decision to accept Jesus as Lord of our life and Savior of our eternal soul, now:  "Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation"  (II Corinthians 6:2b).
