6. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE BORN AGAIN OR
BORN OF GOD?
Birth generally means to be brought forth, to emerge into being or to be transformed. A simple and often used definition is: The beginning. This refers to the beginning of life independent of the mother's womb, traditionally referred to as our birthday. Jesus told Nicodemus, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." (John 3:3b). Jesus simply explained, that to see the kingdom of God, Nicodemus must be brought forth into the spiritual world, as he was once brought forth into the physical world. We could say, one must have a physical transformation to become a member of an earthly family and one must have a spiritual transformation to become a member of the family of God. Conclusion: "Being BORN AGAIN" is ones new beginning, or new life in Jesus Christ, which takes place when we, believing Jesus Christ is the Son of God, repent of our sins and receive him as the Lord and Savior. The new beginning is being BORN OF GOD! |
